Cruel Summer (Album Review )

The Album Yeezy Built

via instagram: @classicalex

When the first announcement came out that G.O.O.D music was going into production in an upcoming group album a few months back, everyone was hyped. The excitement for Cruel Summer came in a little bit after Watch The Throne, which was Kanye West and Jay-Z's co-album. Then rumors started to fly around on who was going to be included in the album, both producing wise and who'll lay a verse on a track.

Now we come to the present time to Cruel Summer, and how it measures up to all the talk. Even before the album was released, five out of the twelve tracks were released to the public. We had I don't like(Remix), Cold, Mercy, New God Flow, and finally the Hit-Boy produced banger, Clique. All of these tracks came prior to the September 18th album release date.

Regardless of the amount of tracks heard before the album came out, the remaining seven tracks were nothing short of excellent. The album in itself has its own sound to it. All of the tracks seem to fit in together as a whole. I really love the album, even after listening to it a week after the release date. I still love to hear Cold, and especially love to hear Clique being played on the radio. What Kanye did was brilliant, by putting together an album that has so much variety in it . With the recent signing of 2 Chainz, Ye' pretty much covered all of the different type of hip hop styles out there. One of the surprises was including R. Kelly in the To The World track, which also includes Kanye alongside him. Everyone had their own spot in the album, it didn't feel as though someone got left out. Cruel Summer also brought out Ma$e out, who hasn't been heard from in a while now. Then you got the usuals; Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Common, Jay-Z, and Kanye West on the album. All of these artist made the album to what you hear today.

The whole G.O.O.D music group put together the album they were set out to put out. Some people might say it didn't live to their expectation. The album is the album Kanye set out to release. Period. If Kanye West didn't want the album to be released, i'm certain that the album would not have been released on the set date, and would probably would've been released much later.

Buy the album on iTunes.

Cruel Summer Debuts At Number 2 First Week

The GOOD music collabotration album sales have finally come out, and it has Cruel Summer charted behind Pink on first week sales. It doesn't come much to surprise since pretty much it would be known that the album would sell, but it was still up to the numbers to come out in order to pit as a number 2 debut. The album sold 205, 000 in first week sales, which trails behind P!nk who sold 280,000 to claim the no.1 position. Some people might say that the album could've take the first places spot, but for being a Hip Hop album, and to take it on the top 2, it would be a success. Props to Yeezy and camp. Can't wait for another GOOD music album.

Crystal Castles-Wrath of God

The Duo known as Crystal Castles, releases a free download to the public. The track Wrath of God has whole different sound to it. Unlike their previous music sound, this time they've switched. I'm guessing they're trying to keep the sound the same but also incorporating what today's music sounds like. Be the judge. Expect their new album (III) on November 5th.

Azealia Banks-Luxury

The outspoken Harlemette Azealia Banks comes out with a new music video, Luxury. This, like her other video 1991, comes with the old school flavor. That kind of music that would be heard a few years. A different sound that todays music should have. Good job on the track and watch below.

Jaden Smith-The Coolest

Son of Will Smith has taken to come out with some music of his own. Jaden Smith comes out with The Coolest, along with the music video to come along with it. See what you think of his entering of the music world below.

Jeremih-Fuk U All The Time (Dpat Remix)

With the recent Wiz Khalifa ft. The Weeknd track, Remember You, i felt like i should give some recognition to the producer, DPat. (co-produced by illangelo also). He has a few track on his soundcloud, but the one that stands out the most is the remix he did for Jeremih's Fuk You All The Time, which was on the recent mixtape Late Nights with Jeremih. Listen to the remix below.

Check out his soundcloud here.

Kendrick Lamar (Toca Tuesdays Freestyle)

Kendrick is making his rounds around local radio stations. His recent stop is the SiriusXM station Shade 45. I have to say that this might be one of his best freestyles to come up in the past days. I've listened to mr. Lamar since he dropped his classic mixtape, Overly Dedicated, and he has really grown to become a contender in the best rapper out today. This freestyle confirms it. Listen.

Frank Ocean-Blue Whale

So after being on the main stage on SNL with John Mayer couple weeks ago, and also releasing his visuals for his song Pyramids, Frank Ocean releases a new track. It's seems like more of a put together  free verse of just him being him. For what it is, it's pretty good. Don't know if it'll be on anything in the near future, but time will tell. But as of now, thank you Mr. Ocean for some new music to flood our ears.

The Weeknd ft. Wiz Khalifa-Remember You

The long awaited Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd track finally comes out after weeks of anticipation. There was much specualtion on how the song would sound, but at the end it comes out. The title is Wiz Khalifa featuring The Weeknd, but it actually sounds like the other way around. The Weeknd never disappoints, so this track is perfect. Unlike other tracks, this one sounds off with the addition of Wiz. Even though techincally it is a "Wiz" song, it doesn't sound good with him in it to tell the truth. You be the judge. Expect ONIFC on December 4th.
